So, I mentioned last week in my post about being on auto-pilot that I was taking stock of my diet, and things were really not looking so good. I made some changes, and since last Monday I’ve juiced and eaten mostly raw, organic foods. I did have some cooked chicken and a seared steak for dinner a couple of nights, but other than that…eating in the RAW for me.

sleep

Find the sleep app I use here. It’s awesome.

I must say, I feel fantastic. I’m down 5 lbs. already. Most of that is detox, I know…I PROMISE I’m getting enough calories in, friends. I’m eating constantly, and I always feel satisfied. I haven’t been hungry once…which my friends/family/clients really appreciate. (I get mean when I’m hungry).

The weirdest thing I noticed was my sleep. I’ve never reported more than 73% sleep quality on my sleep app, and that was only occasionally. I usually hovered between 40% and 60%. Here’s a screen shot from last night’s snooze. Pretty freaking awesome.

What I know to be true about myself, though, is that I can do anything for 5 days. On day 6, if I don’t have some great incentive to keep going, I’m going to say, “Well, that was fun, what’s next?”

Setting myself up for a win, I made raw brownies on day 5. And it worked. They are so delicious, they made my raw life worth living. Seriously, hear me out here, people.

You only need 5 ingredients: walnuts, Medjool dates, raw cacao, raw unsalted almonds, and sea salt.

For the whole recipe, go to www.mynewroots.org. Sarah has tons of absolutely delightful recipes–check them out! These beautiful photos are hers, as well.

So, brownies in hand, forward I march. 😀

I’m looking forward to finding other delicious, healthy recipes and reporting back my progress here. I’ll see if I can get our resident nutritionist to chime in on raw eating, juicing and all the rest. Let me know how you’re going with your own journey as far as diet and exercise, I’d love to hear from you!
